Vera Koedooder finishes Energiewacht Tour in 2nd place

"We surpassed all expectiations"

Bigla Cycling Team's Vera Koedooder finished the Energiewacht Tour (UCI 2.2) in the Netherlands in a fantastic 2nd place. After she lost her yellow jersey on the 4th stage after a tough fight, she gave all she could on the final 104 kilometres stage and defended her position in the general classification.

In the end, Koedooder had a gap of 37 seconds to the overall winner Lucinda Brand (Rabo-Liv) and advantage of 24 seconds to Trixi Worrack (Specialized-lululemon), who finished in 3rd place.

Right from the start of the final stage the race was quite fast and the bunch split in several groups. Koedooder was the only on of Bigla Cycling Team that could manage to stay in the first group of the race. The pace became slower when a breakaway group attacked and built an advantage of one minute. The chase group with Koedooder and the leading rider Brand controlled the pace and didn't let them built up more advantage as it would have been dangerous for the yellow jersey. The breakaway reached the finish with an advantage of about half a minute.

"It is so amazing. It was a tough tour but I'm so happy with my 2nd place", Vera Koedooder cheered. "We came here to achieve some good results on the stages but we surpassed all expectations. We won one stage, we had the yellow jersey on two stages and finished 2nd overall. That's fantastic and we never expected something like that", sports director Mario Vonhof added.
