Tchalykh who was the only participant from Azerbaijan rode an impressive race on home soil. She completed the 26-km course in 34:57. "The support was fantastic today", said Tchalykh. "Just getting to the start line one could feel shivers down the spine. For me there was a great motivation to win at home, in front of the cheering fans. It is also Victory Day (WWII), so it was an honour and privilege to race on such a day, and we all wanted to show our best. It is an unforgettable feeling".
