Azerbaijani Elena Tchalykh (Dolmans-Boels) powered to the victory in the women's individual time trial in Baku, part of Heydar Aliyev Anniversary Tour of Azerbaijan (UCI 2.1). Tchalykh who was the only participant from Azerbaijan rode an impressive race on home soil. She completed the 26-km course in 34:57. Olena Pavlukhina from Ukraine finished 2nd, 34 seconds behind Tchalykh, Aleksandra Soshenko (Luthuania) 3rd, losing 1 minute.

"The support was fantastic today", said Tchalykh. "Just getting to the start line one could feel shivers down the spine. For me there was a great motivation to win at home, in front of the cheering fans. It is also Victory Day (WWII), so it was an honour and privilege to race on such a day, and we all wanted to show our best. It is an unforgettable feeling".
